2024 | EVERY MAN
A play by Hugo von Hoffmansthal
The play is about the rich man's death and draws on a folk tale that Hofmannsthal stylized into a classic. Man cannot take his earthly goods with him into the afterlife. When death calls, he is on his own and only his good deeds count. And the well-off “Everyman” is in a bad way. Neither friends, nor relatives, nor his amassed fortune, nor his boon companions want to go with him; he can ask for them however he wants. He is responsible for his own salvation and has to go it alone.
